Puss In Boots : Most Interesting Cat In The Worlds?

The folks at DreamWorks are going full steam ahead with their clever web spots for their upcoming feature Puss in Boots. Yesterday, we discovered a new 35-second ad about Puss, spoofing Dos Equis’ “Most Interesting Man in the World.” The clever spot introduces Puss (Antonio Banderas) as the most interesting cat in the world, showing examples of how utterly fascinating and legendary the swashbuckling feline is. Directed by Chris Miller, the feature will be released on November 4 by Paramount. We’ve got to say these teasers are working like catnip for toon fans around the world!

TFOU And Alphanim Hatch Plan For 'Calimero'

Calimero, Pagot’s famous black chicken, has found a new home on TF1’s youth programming block TFOU. Alphanim and TFOU announced today that the new 104 x 11’ CG-animated Calimero, which is based on the popular character created by Pagot in 1963, will be part of the network’s programming in 2013, to coincide with the property’s 50th anniversary.

Aimed at kids 4 to 7, the new series will rediscover the world of Calimero and his friends Priscilla and Valeriano. According to press notes, the chick’s famous catch phrase “It’s just not fair!” will be starting point of new adventures and the opportunity for the character to set things right!

Paris-based studio Gaumont Alphanim, which is known for producing series such as Galactik Football, Robotboy and Santa’s Apprentice, will distribute the program and manage the brand internationally on behalf of Calidra, the right owner. Alcon, Arc to Make 'Ormie Movie'

Canadian animation studio Arc Prods (formerly known as Starz Animation Toronto) will be co-producing a new feature with Alcon Entertainment, based on the short Ormie, it was announced Thursday at the Toronto Intl. Film Festival.

“Having worked with Alcon as a client has shown us their extraordinary expertise on both the business and creative sides,” said Steven Hecht, exec VP of business development at Arc.

Directed by Alcon’s Rob Silvestri, Ormie has won several awards at festivals in Savannah, Palm Springs and Seattle as well as New York Children’s Festival. It tells the simple story of a clever pig who is trying to reach the cookies on top of the refrigerator.

Arc was responsible for the animation of this year’s Disney-released Gnomeo and Juliet and Focus Features’ 9 and has also provided vfx for Starz’s Camelot series. Silvestri worked as an animator on Gnomeo and Juliet, 9 and The Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything. He is also directing Alcon’s upcoming feature OZ3D, a contemporary adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s The Wizard of Oz.
